Teaching the Art of Rustic Furniture Making Using Traditional Hand Tools

"All the pieces I make are original designs using traditional hand tools and local or recycled wood. Primitive, rustic, or traditional furniture making is the "old way" which I seek to follow. I have participated in 35 juried shows, teach workshops and am entirely self-taught. When I'm designing and creating my furniture I lose all track of time."

Harry Felton offers instruction for beginning, intermediate, and advanced woodworkers.  Please contact Harry for workshop fees and additional information on workshops. Commissions accepted.

UPCOMING WORKSHOPS

BASIC RUSTIC FURNITURE CRAFTING
Lewistown furniture maker, Harry Felton, teaches the craft of furniture building using traditional woodworking tools. Participants explore the history and design of hand made furniture and learn hand tool functions. They gain skill in their use, learn basic wood joinery with regard to function and design, and then practice making the joints. Each participant will design a wood bench or stool and cut, shape, plane, fit and assemble it, gaining confidence and learning to trust in their hands, eyes and artistic heart.

Felton has been teaching basic and advanced furniture making since 2003 and has exhibited his work in 37 juried shows throughout the Pacific Northwest. All his pieces are original designs made with traditional, hand tool craft and all woods used are local or recycled -- he knows them personally. Traditional, rustic, or primitive furniture is the "old way" Harry seeks to follow. The basic class is open to all levels of experience, and it's a great class for an adult to take with a younger person.
